Făgăraș Fest 2026 returns from 10th – 12th July in Sebeșu de Sus with its most diverse and complex programme of guided tours to date — over 30 nature-based experiences that take participants out of the role of spectators and place them right in the heart of the Făgăraș Mountains. In a single weekend, you can reach waterfalls, watch birds at sunrise, discover traces of wildlife and explore the mountains at night, alongside specialists.
From the early hours of the morning until after dark, the festival offers a programme that turns each day into an authentic exploration. Participation takes place in small groups, accompanied by guides and specialists, making the difference between a simple walk and a truly memorable experience. The full programme and tickets for guided tours are available at https://fagarasfest.ro.
The Făgăraș Mountains, step by step
The guided tours take participants into the heart of nature within the Moașei Valley, where every step becomes a discovery: from plants and insects to the way everything is interconnected and contributes to the balance of nature. During wildlife and birdwatching tours, participants learn to read nature’s signs: tracks, sounds and behaviours that tell the story of wildlife in the Făgăraș Mountains.
For those who want to go further, hikes to the waterfalls along the Moașei Valley or routes towards Suru Cabin offer the perfect combination of effort, scenery and insight into the mountain landscape.
The programme brings together experiences for all types of participants, from those who prefer a relaxed pace to those seeking adventure:
- hikes to the waterfalls along the Moașei Valley and to the Suru Cabin
- wildlife-focused tours — bats, beavers, insects and other wild animals
- exploration dedicated to flora, fungi, trees and biodiversity
- birdwatching and nature photography
- family experiences — ‘Explorers of the Făgăraș Mountains’
- cultural tours through the village of Sebeșu de Sus
- tours exploring life in the Moașei River
Each tour offers a different perspective on nature and the relationship between people and this landscape.
After dark, nature reveals a different side
Some of the most sought-after experiences at Făgăraș Fest take place after nightfall. Night tours dedicated to bats reveal a world invisible during the day, using special equipment that transforms ultrasounds into something participants can hear and understand in real time.
Tours focused on river life, insects or fungi, as well as fly-fishing experiences, offer different perspectives on nature. Participants discover not only the techniques, but also the delicate balance of aquatic ecosystems. They also learn how wildlife is monitored through tracks and non-invasive technologies, as well as how people coexist with wild animals.
These tours are not simple walks, but opportunities to understand how nature works — from relationships between species to the role of each element within the ecosystem.
Nature, community and experiences for all ages
‘Explorers of the Făgăraș Mountains’ turns nature discovery into a team adventure for children and parents, with challenges, games and interactive activities. The ‘Gifts of Nature’ hike offers a guided journey through the forests of the Moașei Valley, where participants learn what responsible hiking means — from equipment and safety to how we can enjoy nature while minimising our impact.
‘The Bat Corner’ combines science with creativity. Participants listen to ultrasound calls, discover the role of bats in ecosystems and learn, through creative activities, how they can contribute to their protection.
Through guided tours in the village of Sebeșu de Sus, participants discover local history, identity and people, gaining a deeper understanding of the community.
Exploring on two wheels
For those who want to cover more ground, the festival includes guided electric bike tours along 12 to16-kilometre routes around Sebeșu de Sus, in small groups, with equipment included. A freeride option offers the freedom to explore the area at your own pace.
The Făgăraș Mountains are not only seen… they are heard, smelled and understood. At Făgăraș Fest, everything that cannot be seen can be felt.
