Parks for Generations Campaign
Foundation Conservation Carpathia, in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Forests, is launching a national campaign to promote Romania’s national parks, called “Parks for Generations.” The campaign aims to showcase the benefits that national parks bring to nature and local communities and to demonstrate how they can become drivers of sustainable development.
The griffon vulture, nature's sanitary worker
After an absence of more than 70 years, the griffon vulture is returning to Romania. Foundation Conservation Carpathia is carrying out an ambitious reintroduction programme in the Făgăraș Mountains. Vultures play an essential role in the ecosystem: as scavengers, they help maintain the health and balance of natural ecosystems.
The beaver, nature's engineer
Absent from Romania for more than 100 years, the beaver was reintroduced between 1998 and 2003, and its population has gradually recovered. Today, this engineer of nature has also returned to the south-eastern Făgăraș Mountains, along the Dâmbovița, Argeșel and Râul Târgului rivers, through a project by Foundation Conservation Carpathia. By building dams, beavers create habitats, retain water and help increase biodiversity.
Invasive alien plants
Through this campaign, Foundation Conservation Carpathia is drawing attention to the threat posed by invasive alien plant species. Although they have received little attention so far, these species are causing real ecological disasters. We will explain why, how to identify some of them, and what we can do to control them and prevent them from becoming established in the wild.
