One of the objectives of this project is to develop plans for a multifunctional conservation centre, dedicated to communities around the Fagaras Mountains. For this task, we have joined up with architects Peter Mrass and Jan Huelsemann, who have extensive experience on ecological architecture with local materials and local styles in various parts of Transylvania, Germany, and other countries.

Conservation centres are infrastructure elements designated for different activities with the main goal of biodiversity conservation and other important values of a region or a protected area.

These Centres may consist in administrative buildings for the protected area personnel, visitor’s centres with information purpose, educational buildings for schools and volunteers, but also production buildings for conservation enterprise development and support for a green economy.

We are making good progress in designing plans for the centre and will soon have an outline and a first draft ready.
