On December 10th and 11th 2018, the Bucharest Biology Institute of the Romanian Academy dedicated its annual conference to the Făgăraș Mountains, due to their high biodiversity and natural importance in Romania and Europe. The international conference, entitled “Făgăraș Mountains – scientific arguments for creating a new National Park”, was organised in collaboration with Foundation Conservation Carpathia, The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Food Industry and Environmental Protection of the “Lucian Blaga” University in Sibiu and with the support of the National Union for Nature Conservation (IUCN WCAP).
