Throughout this summer, a team of 7 sociologists visited the 28 communities surrounding the Fagaras Mountains Natura 2000 site to collect data on the hardships and discontents of people’s lives, their needs and desires, but also the joys and celebrations. We were particularly interested in the attitudes and beliefs of the local population towards the surrounding nature as part of their everyday life.

The sociologists have been engaged in this project to listen and comprehend and to enter into a dialogue in order to promote a sustainable development for the communities, where economic interests support nature conservation by using local labour, by developing environmentally friendly services and by adding greater value to local products.
