Tree nursery

The nursery in Sirnea has made it well over the winter. With the snow disappearing and the temperatures climbing higher we can finally inspect the first results of our first tree nursery that will help restoring the clear-felled areas in the Dimbovita Valley. So far we are very satisfied with the amount and condition of the small plants of sycamore, alder, rowan that we sowed in 2012. It is surprizing to see how small the young alder plants are compared to sycamore and rowan, even though it is a pioneer species that repopulates river banks. We also prepared an additional 5 are of soil for ash and elm seeds that we could not obtain last year due to the drought.
