Only few scattered individuals of European Yews (Taxus baccata) still exist in Piatra Craiului National Park and the valleys and mountains to the West, and no regeneration has been documented for a long time. The yew is at the edge of extinction in the South-Eastern Carpathians. Fundatia Conservation Carpathia has now brought the Yew back to the area: In the frame of the LIFE+ project, we have planted 80 yews in three distinct areas during the last days. After a long time of absence, this mysthic tree is back in CARPATHIA! Throughout the next years, we will plant many more yews.
