The “Carpathia” photo exhibition arrived in Brașov for the Alpin Film Festival 2020. Initially launched in October at the Bucharest Photofest 2019, the most important international photography festival in Bucharest, this exhibition became an invitation to dialogue.

This photographic approach by talented Nicholas J R White (www.nicholasjrwhite.co.uk), captures scenes of delicate interactions with the land, set against the magnificence of the Carpathian landscape. It further emphasises the mammoth undertaking of the FCC and acts as a visual archive of the rebirth of our European wilderness.

The exhibition documents the work undertaken by the FCC team of rangers as they embark on an ambitious wildlife monitoring programme spanning approximately 100,000 hectares. They collect DNA samples, using only non-invasive methods, without disrupting the normal behaviour, ecology or physiology of the wild animals.

The photographic project “Carpathia” documents the ongoing efforts of “Foundation Conservation Carpathia” team in forming a new European Wilderness Reserve in the heart of the Southern Carpathian Mountains.

Alpin Film Festival is the first and largest event in Romania dedicated to mountain culture. The festival ended on Sunday, 1st of March, after 7 days of film screenings, meetings with special guests, book launches and exhibitions inspired by the mountain universe. It offered us a unique opportunity to talk with the supporters and lovers of culture created around the mountains. Over 5000 mountain lovers were present at the events organized in Brașov, Bușteni and Predeal, and several thousand others watched the live broadcasts distributed on the festival’s Facebook page.

Congratulations to the organizers and thanks to all the participants for the opportunity to dwell on this wonderful topic: the mountains.
