My Transylvania Association in partnership with Foundation Conservation Carpathia continued a series of events promoting Romanian villages, local products and the beauty of nature and organized a first event at Dâmbovicioara – Electric camping. This represents the main gateway to the Făgăraș Mountains through the Dâmbovița Valley, in the Piatra Craiului National Park through the Dâmbovicioara Valley, into the Bucegi Mountains and the Leaota Mountains through the Cheii Valley.

Electric camping gathered about 50 participants from Brașov, Pitești, Zărnești, Bucharest, Iași and Spain: nature lovers, people interested in unique activities, music, tasty food and the beauty of Dâmbovicioara. After a guided hike on the Cheii Valley and a visit to the wood craftsman, the guests enjoyed a brunch with sheep and cow cheeses, pies, pork fat, vegetables, bread from Rucăr, polenta with pork and rooster meat, donuts, stuffed pastry walnuts and sweet pie with cheese and blueberries. The evening was animated by the Hoinarii band, who played the whistle and guitar. The night continued with electronic music mixed by DJ DEX and DJ MEET MTD. The good weather, the fresh air, the beautiful view, the starry sky, the lights of the tent, the CARPATHIA team presentations, the food, the location of the event and the legends of the place were appreciated by the guests of Electric camping.

“We want to promote the communities in the vicinity of the Făgăraș Mountains and we want to create alternative income models for people,” declares Georgiana Andrei, FCC Communication Specialist and event coordinator. “Our well-being depends on nature, on the choices we make every day. Ecotourism is the segment with the largest annual growth, between 20-24%, and Romania has all the necessary ingredients to be a European leader in this field. We, by organizing these events, are trying to create a chain of village services, from which more locals, in partnership with the environment, would benefit: those who make the products, those who cook, the hosts etc. And for the guests, fun counts, but also the pleasant feeling that they also contribute to the well-being of the locals and to the importance of keeping nature intact! We will continue these initiatives in other communes where the CARPATHIA project is present.”

The event was organized with the support of the City Hall of Dâmbovicioara Commune, with the Tourist Information Center Dâmbovicioara and with the Oratia Camp.
